Obamacare and Employee Health Benefits
Does Obamacare have a Negative Impact on Employee Health Benefits?
We are now a little less than a year away from guarantee issue healthcare plans as detailed in the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare. In the lead up to the full implementation of the key component of ObamaCare, guarantee issue, the consumer is trying to figure out how to react and what steps to take to survive in this unknown territory.
Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics says “it will have a negative impact on job creation in 2013”. The consulting firm Mercer is saying about 1/4 of businesses surveyed said half of the businesses who offer health benefits plan to make changes so fewer employees work 30 hours a week. Many employers are simply not hiring if they are near the 50 employee threshold according to Christine Ippolito of Compass Workforce Solutions and several restaurants, retailers, and hotels will be dramatically affected by the law. We, at our firm, have been receiving a large increase of calls from people who have lost their group health coverage for whatever the reason.
We, at America’s Health Insurance, are almost always able to give them more benefits for less money than they are paying now! Just two examples from this week alone: a family of four received their renewal notice of $1000.00/month for just health insurance; we were able to give them a Health Savings Account medical plan with dental, accident and critical illness coverage for only $700.00 a month for all plans! A husband and wife got their annual renewal of $800.00 monthly for an individual plan; we were able to change their carrier with a similar health insurance plan, add life insurance for both people, and give them a dental plan for only $600.00 a month! If you lose your coverage from your employer or if your renewal is more than you expected, there are plenty of options to help you keep control over your insurance/finances. Contact us and let us help you just as we have helped the people mentioned above.
